Welcome To General Brock!
Welcome to General Brock Elementary! We are a Kindergarten to Grade 7 school within the Vancouver School Board. Our website is designed to tell you a little about our school. If you are not able to find the information you need, please don't hesitate to call the school.
Grade 8 Transition
For regular Grade 8 registration procedures please refer to the VSB website registration page. If you have a child in grade 7 there will be some important dates you need to know for applying to mini school. The "old" Options Booklet has been recreated and will be sent home with grade 7 students the week of November 25.
For more information please refer to the VSB website.
Registration for Kindergarten 2014 began on November 1. This year, all families will need to register their child at their English catchment school, including those who want to go to choice programs. For more information on the kindergarten registration process please contact the school.
Intensive French Applications
As you may be aware, General Brock now has an Intensive French program. This is a district program and students can apply for grade 6 from throughout the district.
Reporting Your Child Will be Late or Absent
The phone number to report your child will be late or absent is 604-713-5248. This is the "old" safe arrival phone number. In order to keep the main line available, a Brock staff member will check the messages at 9:30 a.m. every day. If your child will be away from school for any reason, please call this number between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. only to inform the school. Please also include the date and time that you called and the date your child will be late or absent. Thank you.
Inner City Revisioning in the VSB
The Vancouver School Board is undertaking a revisioning of the Inner City Schools. Over the coming weeks there will be numerous focus groups and stakeholder meetings taking place. PACs from inner city schools are being asked for feedback. If you have any feedback that you would like to share with respect to the questions outlined in the Revisioning Document, please forward them to Ms. Hughes by December 4. Thank you.
Kindergarten immunizations will be occurring at Brock on December 5. Consents will be sent home in November. If you have all of your child's boosters up to date, please ensure the health nurse has this information. You may contact Christine at Raven Song (604-709-6404) or you can drop off updated information to the school to be put into her mailbox. If you prefer to go to the clinic for your child's immunization please call them to book an appointment. Thank you.
New to BROCK?
We look forward to meeting you and welcome your questions. Please feel free to call or visit our school between 8:30am - 3:30pm.
For anyone shopping at Nesters, Brock school is their current charity. All donated “Nesters points” are collected into an account which the PAC can use to purchase supplies for special events, such as the upcoming Family BBQ. Please consider donating your points when shopping at Nesters, thank you!
Lost and Found
If your child has lost an item of clothing or a backpack, please take a look in our "Lost and Found" container that is located in the lunch room by the doors closest to the office. Thank you. To help lost items make their way back home it is a good idea to label children's clothing, backpacks and lunch containers.
If you would like to participate in the lunch program, please pick up the monthly registration forms outside the main office. To take a look at our current menu click here.
