Brock Junction After School Care

Located at: 4860 Main St, Vancouver BC, V5V 2T9

Brock Junction is a quality, inclusive after-school program for children aged 5-12 years. The purpose of the program is to provide out of school care for school-aged children whose parents are working, going to school or need relief beyond the school day. The main focus of Brock Junction is to provide a safe social and learning environment in order for children to develop independence, self-confidence and the skills needed for peer interaction. In doing so, we strive to provide leisure opportunities that are inclusive and increase community awareness.

Activities:
Throughout the school year, Brock Junction offers a wide range of leisure activities, including arts and crafts, drama, dance, reading club, gym, swimming, skating, science, cooperative games, computer and baking/cooking. During the summer, we enjoy outings in the Lower Mainland; for example, outdoor pools, beaches, playgrounds, farms, water parks, nature habitats, tours of local businesses, an overnight camping trip, community events such as the Pacific National Exhibition, and much more.

Location:
The Brock Junction After School Care Program functions daily out of the lunchroom at General Brock Elementary School. Our program provides a pick-up service from David Livingstone Elementary School when space is available. We also provide serviceto other schools in Vancouver through parent-arranged transportation.

Multi-Cultural Programming:
While the programs operated by the Developmental Disabilities Association generally reflect the basic moral values of the Canadian society, they do not teach religious studies or follow a particular religion in its practices. Festivals and special events from a variety of cultures are celebrated for the enrichment of the children's understanding of the world they live in. Any specific religious teaching remains the responsiblity and choice of the children's parents. All staff and voluteers are required to honour these guidelines.
